Lens coatings

A lens coating is an optional feature for your prescription lenses, designed to improve your overall experience with your glasses. They make wearing glasses more precise and comfortable, depending on your lifestyle. Lens coatings allow you to customize your lenses to suit your everyday needs, improve visual performance, and increase durability.

Types of lens coatings

Anti-reflective coating
Anti-reflective coating is ideal for people who use a computer a lot or who drive at night. As the name suggests, it helps reduce strain on the eyes when using a computer, and reduces night blindness from oncoming headlights.

Scratch-resistant coating
This coating is a clear coating that drastically reduces the risk of damage to lenses when dropped or mishandled. A silicon dip coating is applied to the front and back surfaces of the lens. Scratch-resistant coating provides your lens with protection against abrasion and scratching to ensure it lasts much longer.

Anti-fog coating
It can be frustrating to deal with foggy glasses when you’re coming in from the cold. Not to mention, it can also be dangerous. So to protect yourself, you may want to consider upgrading your eyeglasses lenses with an anti-fogging treatment. It reduces condensation, so your vision will remain clear at any temperature.

Transition lens coating
These are photochromic prescription lenses that change from dark to light and back again, depending on your surrounding light conditions. This advanced lens technology can protect your eyes from the sun's harmful UV rays without the hassle of switching between prescription spectacles and prescription sunglasses.

UV coating
Did you know that UV rays are just as harmful to your eyes as they are to your skin? Our UV coating is a protective lens that prevents the sun’s rays from damaging your eyes. The coating helps reduce the risk of cataracts, retinal damage and other eye problems that result from overexposure to ultraviolet light. Regular lenses block most UV light, but adding a UV-blocking dye like UV Coating boosts UV protection by up to 100% for added safety.
