Contact lens fittings
At Goga's i Care Optical, we aim to provide the very best contact lenses to all our patients.
During your consultation, our experienced Optometrist will examine your eyes to determine if you have any pre-existing conditions which affect your vision. The Optometrist will then discuss your options with you, and help you find the perfect contact lenses to suit your lifestyle.
We offer specialised contact lens fittings for conditions such as:
- Keratoconus
- High astigmatism
- Presbyopia (bifocal contact lenses)
- Post-surgical complications
- Corneal graft patients
- Irregular corneas
- Pellucid Degeneration
- Severe dry eye syndromes such as Sjogren’s syndrome
Types of contact lenses
Soft contact lenses
Soft contact lenses are easy to apply and comfortable. This type of contact lens is easy to adjust and stays in place. Soft contact lenses are made from flexible plastic combined with water to allow oxygen to flow through the contact lens and cornea. Soft contacts are used to correct nearsightedness, hyperopia or farsightedness, astigmatism or blurred vision, and age-related loss of close-up vision.
Soft lenses are disposable, and some varieties can be worn for several days before they need to be discarded.
Hard contact lenses
Hard lenses are made from a plastic material called PMMA. By incorporating silicon, hard contact lenses have a little more flexibility and are far more comfortable, although wearers of these lenses can generally feel them all the time.
As they are rigid in construction, hard contact lenses are customised to fit your cornea and often provide clearer, crisper vision as they retain their shape better. They are also more durable as they cannot tear easily and as they do not contain water. A single pair of lenses can last for years with proper eye care.
Which contact lens is best for me?
There are many things to consider when choosing a contact lens, such as lifestyle, eye conditions, budget and personal preference. In some cases, people start with soft contact lenses and then decide to switch to hard contact lenses. At Goga's i Care Optical, we not only provide a comprehensive contact lens exam, but we can also guide you in choosing the best fit for you.
If you are interested in getting contact lenses, contact our practice for a comprehensive evaluation. We will determine which contact lens option best suits your lifestyle and vision needs.
